Jonathan Behr
Jon is the founder and creative force behind AccountsPortal.
His career began in the financial analysis arena, where he was instrumental in the development and expansion of a South African based company over a 6 year period. He served as a Director for three of these years, and during this time the company was acquired by a JSE listed organisation.
After relocating to London in 2002, Jon worked in the merchant banking and corporate finance arena, specialising in financial modelling, accounting and systems development.
Jon is an enthusiast for all things IT and internet based. Being an entrepreneur at heart, he has focused his creative energies on bringing AccountsPortal to the market since 2008.
Gidon Bethlehem
Gidon is our solutions designer.
He has a wealth of experience in developing IT based client-server accounting solutions. Gidon has spent the last 11 years designing, implementing and supporting accounting software solutions for organisations across the spectrum – from global manufacturers and multi-national insurance companies to local councils and recruitment agencies. This background, combined with his keen appreciation of the user experience, has been key to our goal of developing an intuitive, easy-to-use and feature-rich application.
Mike Orth
Mike is a Senior Flex/AS3 developer & music industry veteran. Early in his career, he started his own record label and worked with Grammy award-winning artists. During the rise of the digital age, he quickly went from creating artist websites to creating cutting-edge interactive music applications. Mike has lead global development teams and has authored code published in the Flex 3 Cookbook. Combining his creative talent and extensive RIA knowledge, Mike specialises in overall application design, architecture and user interaction.
Tracy Wolfson
Tracy is our customer relations and support liaison manager. She began her career as a teacher before transitioning, 5 years ago, to customer relations and management for an internet-based business.
THE TECHNOLOGY
Realising that user interface and design is a key success factor, we have made extensive use of the Adobe Flex framework. This leverages Flex's ability to rapidly process and present data-intensive information via Adobe Flash in a very efficient manner. MySQL is used as the database server, with PHP as the middleware. The net result is an easy-to-use client, supported by fast, reliable and efficient services.
After reviewing and testing a number of dedicated server providers, we decided on a fully managed server with Eukhost.com. This decision was largely based on the efficiency of their service department - real people available 24/7 via telephone or live chat. We have tested this on a number of occasions, and found their support to be exemplary, even at 04.00AM. The server is housed with BlueSquare (locations in Maidenhead and Milton Keynes), who is an ISO-9001 certified colocation provider. The data centres are located within secure compounds; entry to the buildings is via 24/7 swipe card systems, with 6-layer entry and 24/7 on-site security.
The servers are Dell PowerEdge, set up in a RAID-1 configuration and with Dual Core Intel Xeon processors and a fail-safe UPS. All data is backed up to an offsite secure location on a daily basis.
