Submitting your Annual Report (final figures)

After the tax year ends you complete your annual report. This is where you add any year-end adjustments and allowances, and confirm your final figures with HMRC.

The annual report appears as the "End of Year" column in the obligations table on the MTD for Income Tax page, with its own due date. It becomes available once the tax year has ended.

Create the annual report

1. In the "End of Year" column, click "Create Report".

2. Fill in the annual figures. The form is grouped into sections that depend on your business type, for example:

  •  Adjustments — year-end corrections to your profit, such as basis adjustment, overlap relief used, accounting adjustment, averaging adjustment, goods and services for own use, and so on.
  • Allowances — reliefs you are claiming, such as annual investment allowance, capital allowances, zero emissions car allowance and the trading income allowance.

Leave any field blank or zero if it doesn't apply to you. Some fields are mutually exclusive — entering one will disable the others it conflicts with.

3. Click "Save Report".

Review and submit

On the saved annual report you can:

  • "Submit" — send the report to HMRC.
  • "Edit" — change the figures (available until it has been submitted).
  • "Delete" — remove the report (available until it has been submitted).
  • "Export" — download the report as a CSV file.

Once submitted, the report is locked - it can no longer be edited or deleted, and the End of Year column shows as "Complete".
